On All Sides
At the start of a new year, we are making a new habit as a team. As a part of our weekly team meetings, each member of our development team is asked,
It's one of my favorite questions, mainly because I love the answers.
Charlotte spoke about children's ministry in the village of Yabogande. This village was one of the most challenging for us last year as we tried to develop a Sunday school program for the village churches, but when we went there this past Sunday, we saw evidence of the most successful children's program so far. "Seeds were sown," Charlotte said. And God did the work!
Rebeca then recounted what happened at last Friday's milk distribution for the infants in distress program. After she gave a word of encouragement, training the mother's and caregivers in health and hygiene and then encouraging them to go to church and seek God, I shared a simple verse from Psalm 121:5-6 about God guarding us and being "the shade at our right hand." Rebeca took this verse and ran with it, and then a local church leader who was also present gave his interpretation and teaching as well. The women listened and accepted, as they know what a relief it is to find shade on a hot, desert day. God indeed is at work.
Juliette told about how she sees God at work through kids' club, a weekly gathering of neighborhood children for games, activities, singing, prayer, and a Bible story. "Each time my kids come home," she says, "they tell me what the story was about and what they learned. They practice the memory verse with each other. I see that my children want to know God." She said it as if it were the greatest desire of her motherly heart.
In the young scholars ministry, God is doing something new by putting a burden on many of our team member's hearts to begin a Bible study and fun activity with the young women only as they are in a vulnerable and moldable season of life. The girls are very interested and excited about this idea and are currently discussing among themselves which day and time would work best with their schedules.
The water well ministry is rehabilitating an old well using some support raised by Fellowship Bible Church in Searcy, Arkansas. A leadership training seminar is coming up at the end of February. Plus a spiritual awakening is taking place among our own development team. We are on fire to rebuild the broken down walls of our modern-day community and to do it with a foundation of fervent prayer...just like Nehemiah did.
In a sentence, God is at work. On all sides.
"How have you see God at work in your ministry?"

So glad to hear that the funds raised by my church are being put to use in your area! Love reading your blog, Ashli, and hearing what God is doing in your part of the world.
